Top 5 Drone Accessories

Buying a new drone online can be a big decision.  After spending hours online researching, you've finally pulled the trigger and started your journey as a bonifide drone pilot.  You quickly realize however, that you need some more gear to help you get the most out of your drone.  Here are the top 5 accessories you will need for your new drone.

#1 Drone Case

Your new drone is a big investment.  It is important to protect that investment with a drone case.  Some drones come with a case, but most of them are flimsy and do not give you piece of mind when lugging around your drone.  You will need to carry extra batteries, a charger, extra props and more.  At CasePro, we have the best drone cases on the market.  We have custom cades for DJI drones, like the new Phantom 4, Phantom 3 series drones, and the Inspire 1.  We also have drone cases for the 3dr Solo and Iris/Iris+, the YUNEEC Q500+ the YUNNEC Typhoon H and more.  For a complete list of our drones cases, you can go to www.caseproproducts.com

#2 Extra Batteries

One you take out you drone and fly it for the first time, you quickly begin to wish that you had extra batteries.  20-25 minutes of flight time goes by really fast.  If you are using your drone for business or just trying to get better at flying your drone, every drone pilot needs at least a few extra batteries.  There's nothing worse than a beautiful day of flying cut short by a lack of power.

#3 BackPack

Once you get your hard shell case, you might want to consider a backpack for your drone.  If you are hiking or in a more hard to reach area, your hard shell drone case might not work.  When choosing a backpack, male sure you choose one that can hold more than just the drone like the CasePro Drone BackPack for the Phantom 3 series and the Phantom 4.  These backpacks can carry your drone, charger, extra batteries, props, cables, and tablet.  They also have extra pockets and compartments for things like a laptop, water, granola bars and snacks, a knife or other tools and many other items you might need for a hike or shoot.  Here is a link for these backpacks.

 #4 Sun Shade

Most prosumer drones have either a built in screen for FPV (first person view) or they utilize a tablet to view your footage.  This can be a great way to make sure you are getting that perfect shot.  It only works though if you can see what it is that you are filming.  The sun can cause a glare on your device making it difficult to see where your drone is, your battery life, attitude and other telemetry information.  A sun shade is a great way to fix this problem.  There are many after market sun shade you can use that will fit with most popular prosumer drones.  A good sun shade can be found at aerialdroneaccessories.com or hoodmanusa.com

#5 FPV Goggles

First Person View is something every serious drone pilot needs to try.  It gives you the feeling that you are actually flying.  FPV goggles have made it possible for drone pilots to immerse themselves in the flying process and be able to focus on key moves.  These goggles are not just for the drone racer.  They have made their way into the prosumer drone market as well.  With features like head tracking, users can smoothly move their camera with a tilt of their head.  Companies like Zeiss and Samsung have started integrating their virtual reality goggles with drones and more and more options will become available in this FPV market.  A couple of good quality brands for FPV goggles to check out are FatShark and SkyZone.

Other Accessories

Here are some other drone accessories that you may want to consider.

  • ND filters, which can greatly improve your video quality.
  • SD Cards, make sure you have enough storage for your videos
  • Video Range Extender, allows you to fly farther while having a strong video feed
  • Heli Pad, this gives you a visual on approach and can provide a safe level spot when landing.

So now that you have made your investment, here are the Top 5 Drone Accessories (and a few more) you will want to add to your drone.
